Why Alex DeBrincat makes sense for the Seattle Kraken
DeBrincat would immediately become one of Seattle’s most dangerous offensive players.

From my perspective, the Red Wings should prioritize an extension before seriously considering a trade. Proven 40-goal scorers rarely become available, and Detroit would eventually need to replace the exact offensive quality it surrendered.
The calculation changes if negotiations stall or DeBrincat’s contract expectations become too expensive. Detroit cannot allow an asset of this value to approach unrestricted free agency without either an extension or a clear trade plan.
For Seattle, that means patience may be the best strategy. The Kraken can express interest now, but their leverage improves if Detroit reaches training camp without a new contract in place.
At this stage, I would rate the chances of an Alex DeBrincat trade to the Seattle Kraken at three out of 10. Seattle has the need, assets and cap room. The uncertainty is whether the Detroit Red Wings have any real interest in moving him.
