Can Mitch Marner turn a solid first season in Vegas into another elite fantasy hockey campaign?
My Mitch Marner projection for the 2026-27 NHL season is 27 goals, 62 assists, and 89 points in 80 games for the Vegas Golden Knights. That would represent a nine-point improvement over his first season in Vegas and return Marner to the edge of the NHL’s highest fantasy tier.
The most encouraging part of Marner’s outlook is that he does not require an unsustainable goal-scoring spike to approach 90 points. His fantasy value continues to be driven by assists, offensive-zone possession and power-play opportunities. With Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl and Shea Theodore surrounding him, Marner should have several elite finishing options whenever Vegas has the man advantage.
I would not automatically project Marner to regain the 100-point pace he displayed during his best years in Toronto. Vegas distributes its offensive opportunities across several established scorers, and Marner does not need to carry the attack by himself. However, improved chemistry and a more settled role should make an 85-to-95-point season a realistic expectation.
Mitch Marner Fantasy Hockey Projection for 2026-27
Marner recorded 24 goals and 56 assists for 80 points in 81 games during his first season with the Golden Knights. He finished second on Vegas in scoring behind Eichel, while the Golden Knights finished the regular season with a 24.6 percent power play and a franchise-record 58 power-play goals.
Those totals represent a strong fantasy floor, but they probably do not show Marner’s complete offensive ceiling in Vegas. He was still adapting to new teammates, a different offensive structure, and an expanded positional role. The NHL noted that Marner played primarily at center during the regular season after spending most of his first nine NHL seasons on the right wing.
That versatility is worth watching in fantasy hockey. Depending on the platform, additional positional eligibility could make Marner considerably more valuable because managers would be able to move him between lineup spots. Fantasy managers should verify his eligibility within their specific league before draft day.
Marner also produced 29 points, including 10 goals and 19 assists, during Vegas’ run to the 2026 Stanley Cup Final. I would not simply carry that postseason scoring rate into an 82-game projection, but it showed that he had developed the confidence and chemistry required to drive the Golden Knights’ offence during high-pressure games.

Why Mitch Marner Can Reach 89 Points With Vegas
My projection model starts with Marner’s scoring pace from his first Vegas season, gives additional weight to his established history as an elite playmaker and then applies a modest second-year chemistry increase. I am not projecting a dramatic breakout or relying on an unrealistic shooting percentage. The predicted increase comes primarily from six additional assists and three more goals.
The biggest factor will be how frequently Marner shares the ice with Vegas’ best finishers. Eichel attacks defenders with speed, Stone creates turnovers and extended offensive-zone possessions, Hertl provides a net-front scoring presence and Theodore can move the puck through traffic from the blue line. Marner is at his best when he can delay, draw defenders toward him and find an open teammate in a dangerous area.
My personal observation is that Marner’s fantasy floor is more attractive than his absolute ceiling. Even when his goal scoring fluctuates, his vision and passing allow him to produce assists consistently. Vegas’ depth may prevent him from dominating every offensive possession, but that same depth also gives him more players capable of converting his passes.
In standard points leagues, I would consider Marner a strong top-35 overall target. He becomes slightly less valuable in formats that heavily reward goals, shots and hits, but his assists and power-play production should keep him among the more dependable high-end forwards available. A healthy season should put him within striking distance of 90 points, with upside approaching the high 90s if the Vegas power play remains productive.
