One of the oldest and most intense rivalries in all of sports is renewed tonight as the Boston Bruins travel to the Bell Centre to take on the Montreal Canadiens. This Atlantic Division showdown is more than just two points; it’s about bragging rights between two passionate fanbases.
These two Original Six teams are heading into this game from very different places. The visiting Bruins are riding a hot streak, having won their last game in a solid 5-3 effort against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Canadiens, however, are looking to bounce back in a big way after a humiliating 7-0 drubbing at home against the Dallas Stars. Montreal will be desperate to erase that memory, while Boston looks to continue its climb in the standings.

Team Records & Game Preview
The Boston Bruins come into tonight’s contest with a solid 11-8-0 record for the 2025-26 season. They are powered by their usual suspects, with superstar David Pastrnak leading the charge with 22 points. He’s getting ample support from Morgan Geekie (16 points) and Pavel Zacha (15 points). The Bruins will, however, be without some key depth, as centers Casey Mittelstadt and Elias Lindholm are both out with lower-body injuries.
The Montreal Canadiens (10-5-2) have had a surprisingly strong start to their season, but they are facing their first major test of adversity. They are coming off that ugly 7-0 loss and are reeling from devastating injury news. Key young players Alex Newhook (ankle) and Kaiden Guhle (abductor) are both out long-term, joining Patrik Laine on the sidelines. The pressure now falls squarely on the shoulders of captain Nick Suzuki (20 points) and star goal-scorer Cole Caufield (12 goals) to carry the load.
My Prediction & The Odds
When I look at this matchup, my gut reaction is to focus on the injuries and the last game. Montreal is banged up and was just embarrassed on home ice. The betting line reflects this, with the Canadiens at -165 and the Over/Under set at 6.5. Honestly, I feel like this is a trap game. The Canadiens are a proud team, and they live for these Saturday night games against the Boston Bruins. They will come out with immense energy to atone for their last performance. The Bruins are a good team, but they are on the road and also dealing with injuries to their center depth. I feel like Montreal’s young stars, Suzuki and Caufield, will feed off the crowd and find a way to pull off a tight, emotional win.
I’m taking the Canadiens to win this one, 4-3, just pushing the game over the total.
